Undergraduate Student

Suraay Verma is a SoCal native, born and raised in Mission Viejo in southern Orange County. He is currently a 3rd year undergraduate student at the University of California, Irvine majoring in Biological Sciences. As a member of the Ivy Lab, Suraay is learning and improving our PCR for genotyping our Emx1-Cre and NuTRAP mouse lines. Future project goals involve using qRT-PCR to validate genes of interest that we find differentially regulated by early-life exercise (or other experiences) in our sequencing studies. After undergrad, Suraay intends to apply for medical school and pursue a career as a neurologist. In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball, playing the piano and guitar, and reading about Greek mythology and fantasy novels.
